When I first ate pizza, I though it was American food. Since I ordered from Papa Johns, which is Pizza Company in United States, I automatically thought that it was American food. Surprisingly, it is Italian food. It was originated from Napoli in Italia. Since the pizza was so popular all over the world, it became global food that can be found anywhere in the world. However the recipe for pizza varies in many different countries. The reason is that they differ in weather and ingredients that they can produce.
It can be made in many different ways, but the general recipe for pizza is very simple. First, make dough with floor and yeast. Yeast is used to ferment the floor. After the fermentation, make the dough flat and put some cheese on it. Then put it on a oven for 15minutes at 250 degree Celsius. Any ingredients can be added on as a topping on the pizza.
How and why is it different in many different countries? They differ in the ingredients that go on the pizza as toppings because the ingredients that can be produced are different depending on the climate in different areas and culture. For example, in Australia, shrimp goes on the pizza since shrimp is available anywhere in Australia due to the fact that the ocean is around the country. Sometimes salmon is used as a pizza topping because salmon is considered one of the valuable food in Australia. On the other hand, banana, chocolate, and pineapple are used as toppings in Brazil. Because of the climate in Brazil, chocolate, pineapple, and banana are main ingredients that are affordable products. Furthermore, there are seasoned beef pizza, Kimchi pizza, and rice pizza in Korea. Sometimes Koreans put a lot of expansive ingredients such as steaks, because they prefer to eat extravagantly so that they boast their wealth.
As shown in those examples, Pizza has changed due to the culture of the country and ingredients that are produced in that area. In Australia, salmon goes into pizza; in Korea, Kimchi is used as toppings; in Brazil, pineapple goes into pizza. Those examples show that the pizza has developed differently in each differently cultured country. Even though the general recipe is similar, the toppings on the pizza are different because of difference in culture and ingredients that are mainly produced in the area.
